Visiting
Our visiting faculty and alumni teachers are integral to the Yoga Barn family, bringing valuable expertise and enriching our community.
Alyssa is humbled to share her passion and love for yoga with others on a daily basis. Having grown up between LA, San Francisco, and New York, she found her yoga mat to be one of the first places that truly resonated as home. One that had the ability to change, grow, and support her curious and ambitious heart. In teaching yoga, she hopes to empower others to find a similar feeling on their mat, and more importantly within themselves. Alyssa’s background in storytelling and film weaves its way into her classes, where she utilizes the art of language and music in the asana practice to create what students have called a “full and immersive experience.” Her classes are known to be soulful, permissive, and strong with an energetic warmth. She is often found closing practice with the sounds of her harmonium and voice through song & mantra. She has immense gratitude for the wisdom shared by her mentors Byron de Marse and Paul Teodo, and is continually inspired by the profound curiosity, generosity, and knowledge that is shared in this Ubud community.
The first time she stepped foot at the Yoga Barn in 2018, a feeling beyond words overcame her — one that left her with a promise to return for her teacher training. To now be both a student and guide at this studio is an honor. Previously challenged by a world that asked her to fit into just one box, Alyssa is inspired by the endless potential within each one of us to be all that we are, the realization that she continues to cultivate through the practice of yoga. She looks forward to seeing you soon — all levels and walks of life welcome.
His teaching style is precise, focussed, and also personal as he likes to treat each student with individual attention and help them work on specific areas of the practice that is unique to their struggles. He is also calm, funny and relaxed in his teaching, inviting questions and discussion when appropriate.
Ultimately his focus within his teachings is always on the students, you can see this in his own words:
“As a yoga teacher, my greatest desire and goal is to help each student find the knowledge and answers they seek, and with that the confidence to achieve their movement goals and aims. I prefer to ask the right questions of students, and teach them how to learn, how to think and feel in their bodies, and in doing so find their own beautiful revelations.”
Before becoming a full-time yoga teacher Caspian was a professional Aerospace Engineer, designing components for Aeroplanes and Formula 1 race cars. My yoga journey started in 1998. After many years of attending gyms and weight training sessions, I decided to be kinder on my body. Yoga showed me the way. Slowly, I got inspired to know more about the spiritual side and the many facets of yoga.
In 2008, I completed my Vinyasa yoga teacher training course. A yoga technique that focuses on the alignment of movement and breath – a method to turn static asanas into a dynamic flow. Vinyasa yoga was the beginning of my understanding that ‘yoga helps the mind to be peaceful’. However after a while the music and continual flow were having the reverse effect – the constant straining of my neck to follow the seamless movements of the amazing teacher. I became increasingly less flexible, and my body pained. In the same year, I discovered Iyengar yoga. The practice of yoga that is precision based. If we can align the spine we can align the mind. A life altering experience. I found my true path.
The first class was what i now understand to be YOGA. The complete mind, body and soul connection. I finally felt my body was changing. The poses I was continually trying trying were now making sense. Iyengar yoga Is taught in a way that the mind teaches the body what to do. My hamstrings got longer in one class. Imagine with a regular Iyengar practice. In 2013, I travelled to Pune, the home of Guruji B.K.S Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar Yoga and I continue to travel to Pune regularly. In 2015, I studied and practiced with Br. Rudra Dev, a senior Iyengar Teacher in Rishikesh, India.
I have taught yoga in Nepal, India, Philippines, Australia and Bali.USA,Mexico, and Greece. For now this beautiful Island Bali is home and The Yoga Barn is a space that doesnt feel. LIke work. I come to share my knowledge and ever day I come to class my sole.melts into the energy of THE yoga Barn the second I arrive. The Yoga Barn is a “safe place ” To start you journey to self discovery. I am currently completing a 6 year Iyengar mentorship wuth Katby Cook and Nanda Kumar. So much respect for these two teachers. I am humbled and grateful .

Sai Calder’s journey into the realms of consciousness and true embodiment began at the tender age of 13. During this formative period, filled with curiosity and a yearning for deeper understanding, he encountered the teachings of Brother Tony, a Benedictine monk. Under Tony’s guidance, Sai experienced his first primary awakening—a pivotal moment that set the course for the rest of his life.
For the past 20 years, Sai has been conducting retreats worldwide, aiming to share the essence of his lifelong learning. These retreats are not just about teaching techniques; they facilitate profound transformative experiences. They represent a culmination of his 40 years of self-discovery, a journey that started with a simple realization and evolved into a comprehensive system encompassing various spiritual traditions and healing practices.
Sai’s work in true embodiment and his explorations into consciousness stand as a testament to a life dedicated to understanding and living the principles of presence, love, and truth. His ongoing journey of self-discovery fuels his passion for helping others awaken to their authentic selves, enabling them to live lives of fulfillment and profound understanding.
“Somatic Embodied Insight Session” are transformative experiences created by Sai Calder. These sessions are a profound yet delicate exploration into the essence of your present self, offering a space for deep internal inquiry. The journey begins with recognizing what is currently alive within you, delving into the drivers of your inner experience.
The sessions aim to reconnect you with your personal sense of safety, enhancing your ability to be present in the moment. This connection significantly reduces states of anxiety, depression, and various physical ailments like digestive issues. It cultivates a presence in your life, teaching you to recognize what pulls you away from your center and what guides you back.
These sessions promise a safe space to build resilience, offering a deep interest in your inner world. This approach helps to unglue the stuckness of your usual limited experience of life. Many find that their life events, especially post-honeymoon phases in relationships, often repeat patterns of confusion and conflict. These patterns are frequently due to unprocessed events from the past, sometimes tracing back to childhood.
In “Somatic Embodied Insight Session,” you’ll explore how your body, including your tissues, fascia, bones, and nervous system, can guide you back home. This journey is about feeling grounded, safe, and present, ensuring that your actions are integrated and responsive to the present moment, not stuck in past traumas.
